The company’s goal was for everyone to benefit from what India has to offer - only goods that bring joy.

Stick around to read the story about Gautam Adani, the person that’s reinventing the ways of eating healthy, paving the way for a healthier tomorrow.

Talent Is Brewing

Gautam Adani is at the center of it all. Born in the city of Ratenpol, in the state of Ahmedabad in 1962, Gautam was your average boy next door. Growing up, young Gautam wanted to explore so much, he would spend hours outside, soaking in all of India’s scents.

When he reached a certain age, ready to start his learning journey, studied at the Gautam Sheth. C.N Vidyalaya School in Ahmedabad. Later, as a university dropout, he enrolled at Gujarat University for a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce - but only till his second year.

Gautam decided to try out his luck and started job hunting when he was 18 years old. He moved to Mumbai and started working as a diamond sorter. He was very bright and wise, and only after two years with the company, Gautam launched his own diamond brokerage firm in Zaveri Bazaar.

In 1981, Gautam’s older brother purchased a plastics plant in Ahmedabad and asked Gautam to operate it - he knew that he had a lot of potential waiting to emerge.

Gautam’s return to his hometown marked the start of his journey toward success.

On the Path to Success

Gautam managed to garner significant expertise working with the complexities of global trade while operating his brother’s plastics business.

Even though Gautam excelled in the domains of software and telecommunications, he yearned for something else. Looking for ways to reach his ambitions, he dabbled in what merchants and their forefathers did under British rule, a thousand years ago.

Gautam founded the Adani Group and its flagship company Adani Enterprises in 1988, setting the grounds for it to become one of India’s fastest-growing, privately-owned firms. Thanks to Gautam and his ambitious vision, as well as his tenacious hard work, he made way for success, fulfilling his goal.

Commodities trade, natural gas distribution, edible oil manufacture, are among the group’s core businesses. Adani Group has also expanded outside its core operations to include ports, special economic zones, real estate, and IT services.

The Adani Group comprises over 50 companies now, the most well-known of which is Adani Wilmar Ltd. which was created in 1999 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.

By 2009, the Adani Group had achieved revenues of INR 262 billion thanks to world-class quality and a customer-centric attitude.

Enriching the Tastes of India

Adani Wilmar Ltd. is a food and agribusiness company that is committed to the highest levels of corporate governance, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship.

Since the company’s establishment in 1990, Angshu Mallick, the current CEO and MD has followed Gautam’s vision and built a niche for the company in the Indian edible oil market.

Angshu manifested what he imagined; thanks to him, the company created India’s number 1 edible oil brand, Fortune, which has a market share of roughly 20% in India.

The company has also launched value-added health oils including Vivo and Rice Brain, as well as Rupchanda oil which is the market leader. Apart from edible oils, the company is India’s market leader in oleochemicals, castor oil, and specialty fats.

Adani Wilmar ventured into the food industry in 2013, with an emphasis on staple foods. It sells products such as wheat flour, pulses, rice, and besan among other packaged staple foods.

Personal care products, such as soaps, cosmetics, polymers, detergents, medicines, and industrial rubber, are among the products the company also offers.

Adani Wilmar now owns and runs 22 factories in India, including 10 crusher units and 19 refineries, spread across 10 states.

The company serves approximately 1.6 million retail outlets in 28 states and 8 union territories across India. It holds 88 facilities in India as of September 2021, with a total storage space of around 1.8 million square feet.

Shaking the Financial Grounds

Adani Wilmar is a well-known food production company in India with yearly sales of INR 37,195 core. Profits have reportedly increased by 25% each year. For example, in 2019, PAT was around 460,87 crores, and in 2020, it was around 727, 65 crores.

Revenues from operations increased by 40.5 percent in 2021, compared to the previous fiscal year. FMCG revenue also increased by 46%. Adani Wilmar’s EBITDA increased by 60.3% by the end of 2021.

The company is a part of the IPO, and as a result, it is on track to become India’s largest food and FMCG company - raising INR 3,600 crore in new capital through the IPO.

For instance, the issue price for Adani Wilmar’s IPO in 2022 has been set at INR 230 per share. The three-day IPO of the company, which ended on January 31, was oversubscribed by more than 17 times. The company’s market had reached nearly INR 30,000 crore.

The company competes with powerful companies like Ruchi Soya Industries and AAK, but what sets them apart from the competition is excellent quality and top brands.

Despite the many satisfied customers, Angshu Mallick did not feel like he had reached the top but continued to push the company even further, managing to rank it among the best on the Indian market.

Giving Back to the Community

The company’s aim is to be a leading agribusiness company dedicated to delivering safe, nutritious, and high-quality agricultural commodities and food.

The team is dedicated to helping nations grow in a healthy way. They think that the country’s features are dedicated to its citizens. The company propagated worth and wellness through its diverse product offerings, making sure different tastes are satiated.

Adani Wilmar also aims to establish a village-level resource pool, as well as to reduce the infant mortality rate and the maternal mortality rate, down to a bare minimum.
