Procore - Construction Management Going Digital!

Procore

Digital management - the solution-providing tool of the modern age.

Management is always key to building anything in the most efficient way. Speaking of building, construction management has always been hard to pull off flawlessly.

Management, and workers, for that matter, were in dire need of a tool, a platform that would mix and match needs, real projects, guidelines, and all things construction into one place.

In the beginning, most of the management projects weren’t always going the way that the managers intended. With digitalization taking over, we are all a step closer to performing better, work-wise.

Tooey Courtemanche thrived through the challenges as he pursued the dream of making a platform that would combine ideas and management, making all of it harmoniously, perfectly flowing.

The journey of building the core for digitalized construction management starts with a single idea. If you’re interested to know about the core of Procore, continue reading the inspirational story below.

The Idea Behind the Big Plan

Tooey Courtemanche was just an ordinary child that enjoyed gazing toward the skyscrapers and became intrigued by the process of construction.

Born and raised in the US, Tooey has always been supported by his family. His every idea was met with positive reinforcement by his loving parents. Tooey grew fond of understanding the process of building and managing.

Grasping the deets of how a group of people becomes a team that works towards a goal was Tooey’s greatest interest. Even from an early age, Tooey became slowly drawn into the evolving world of technology, using it as an escape from the dull, ordinary happenings in life.

Tooey’s interest in all things tech rendered him somewhat tech-savvy. Moreover, his interest in construction never really faded away, so the Procore idea was bound to happen. Tooey could fathom his idea of seeing the light of day, and becoming the go-to tool for a flawless, digital solution to construction.

Building a Professional Career

Tooey Courtemanche started his professional career right after high school. After completing his high school education in Santa Barbara, California, Tooey found himself in the middle of a crossroad, not being sure where to continue his career.

After some time spent contemplating, Tooey broke off the silence and decided to continue with his professional growth at the University of Arizona, in 1986. As for the studies, Tooey did astonishing work and aced the first year. However, all the hard work left Tooey with no free time he needed so he could work on the wild ideas that had struck his mind.

It all started when Tooey decided that he wanted to chase his dream, full-on, and dropped out of the University of Arizona in 1987. Leaving the university is a bold step, but it was just something that needed to be done, as simple as that.

In life, taking risks and stepping out of the comfort zone will lead to self-growth. Proven that hard work and dedication pay off, Tooey entered the market with the knowledge and talent he possessed.

Tooey’s first job was as an Associate Software Engineer at Skip Staveley and Associates, back in 1993. For Tooey, the journey lasted for 3 years, helping him develop a set of skills, leading Tooey to the next long-term job.

Tooey got offered an amazing job opportunity that was just too good to turn down. Tooey stepped up as a Chief Executive Officer at Webcage. Tooey embarked on this journey that started back in 1996 and lasted until 2001. After leaving Webcage, Tooey became richer by a set of skills and a huge boost to start many different projects.

Dreaming Big!

Entering the phase of a complete and global digitation is an inevitable outcome. Every single step we take is going forward into integrating digitalization into every sphere of living, all for the betterment of humanity.

Tooey’s childhood dream, backed up by skills and talents acquired, led him into believing that anything is possible.

Since managing huge construction projects seemed impossible to do, especially by a single person, it was a huge problem to be dealt with. Tooey took matters into his own hands and dropped off from the University of Arizona.

Plunging into the unchartered waters of digital management, Tooey took a massive risk and set up the foundations of Procore. The immense courage and the hard work it took before he could even begin changing things for the better was not in vain. Tooey sacrificed so much to make the lives of millions of people easier.

The great idea behind the platform was making it easy and efficient to use by everyone, with the least effort possible. The process of digitizing assets was one of the first steps that had to be done for this dreamy idea to work.

So, building a platform featuring every single management tool at your palm’s reach, with no extra third-party addons or applications for your projects was the endgame of Tooey’s goal. The idea of Procore was established and all the actions that Tooey took while on his path to a professional career were pointing to Procore’s rise.

Digitizing the Messy World of Construction

Procore came to life as a result of the struggles to manage the construction of Tooey Courtemanche’s new home in Santa Barbara. Getting first-hand insight into the troubles of construction and managing all things relevant, Tooey was astonished at how messy it all was. The company saw the first light of day back in 2002, while the first office was set up in Montecito, California. The start of Procore wasn’t an easy task for Tooey, but more of a burden, as he was running everything on his own from his small office.

Until he met with Steve Zahm in 2004, a founder of DigitalThink, an E-learning company, Tooey did everything on his own, putting in a lot of hard work and sleepless nights. Steve Zahm stepped into Procore as a president.

Procore raised $635 million through its IPO, for selling $67 a piece of the 9.64 million shares.

The funding of Procore happened through multiple series, more specifically, it took 15 rounds of fundings for the needed funds to be attained. In these rounds, the total amount raised hopped to an amazing $650 million. Some of Procore’s lead investors are Global Secure Invest, D1 Capital Partners, ICONIQ Capital, Tiger Global Management, and Dragoneer Invest Group.

Thanks to all of the investments in Procore, Tooey Courtemanche made it work in the best way possible. The accomplishments were confirmed by winning the 2020 Venky Entrepreneurship Award. In an interview, Tooey Courtemanche said that he had always admired the winners of this award, and now that he is one of them, he is super grateful.

Now, Procore lived up to its name and is one of the most used platforms for building management. The platform is being used by millions of companies and has become the new construction management go-to tool.

Procore, Today

Employing over 1.300 people. Procore is rising high and growing fast. Procore’s headquarters are located in Carpinteria, California, United States, but as good news travel fast, Procore might just spread its building blocks throughout the world. Procore’s current CEO is still its founder, Craig ‘’Tooey’’ Courtemanche.

Mixing and matching passion with efficiency, Tooey dug deep and revealed the messiness of bringing a construction problem afloat. Getting his hands ‘dirty’, Tooey cleaned up the construction sphere and offered the world a chance for digital construction management.

With an array of companies using Procore’s services, it’s no wonder to see Tooey’s company digitally building a new, better tomorrow.
