Fluence Energy: Manage Your Energy Fluently

FluenceEnergy

Let’s stop draining energy! - Shouted Fluence Energy and the world listened!

Yes, we’re sad when we see the poor and unsustainable energy consumption and storage, and its devastating impacts on our environment.

The high costs, the great density, and very complex maintenance activities of energy storage are also discouraging us on our way towards change.

Moreover, the pollution is taking its toll!

However, we can cheer up a little bit! Don’t you think!? There still are great and successful companies dedicated to innovating modern electric infrastructure and supporting a more sustainable future.

Have you heard about Fluence Energy, an agile, responsible, and fun-to-work-with platform founded by Ross Hagighat? The platform is specialized in energy storage products and services, as well as digital applications for renewables and other clean energy.

In the following text, we’ll narrate the story of Ross Hagighat, a unique entrepreneur and vision-driven enthusiast on his mission to transform the way we consume and store our energy!

A Visionary in the Making

When we talk about Ross Haghighat, we often think about an entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience who has founded and chaired multiple corporations. However, Ross was born 57 years ago in a humble home and his beginnings were ordinary as anybody else’s.

From an early age, Ross was interested in science and technology, which led to his decision to enroll at Rutgers University in 1982. There, young Ross graduated and got his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Advanced Materials in 1986, which will play a crucial role in his further development.

After years of analyzing the technology market and carefully finding the inefficiencies, Ross decided to further improve his knowledge at the Boston College - Carroll School of Management. Ross Haghighat managed to get his M.B.A and was finally ready to step in and send shockwaves through the global energy market.

In his own manner, Ross recognized the need for supporting entrepreneurship for battling outdated and inefficient energy consumption and storage.

As a young entrepreneur himself, it was then when Ross Haghighat envisioned his true calling! Starting as an innovator and strategic reformer, Ross’s vision depicted helping startups mature and become globally-recognized technology corporations.

Determination Goes a Long Way

Ross Haghighat is a man of reason, and he knew that experience in the technology market is crucial for the success of any idea or improvement.

His first and foremost invention was Triton Systems, a small company that will later grow into a fully-fledged corporation. Ross’s first company focused primarily on advanced materials, coatings, and systems engineering.

Triton Systems would soon become a multimillion corporation specialized in different fields like acoustics, artificial intelligence, disruptive materials & design, human systems, ocean systems, otology, and robotics.

Even today, Triton Systems is still active and regularly launches innovative solutions, and invests in new technologies through in-house incubation and partnerships.

Nevertheless, Ross wasn’t getting tired so easily. In 1999, Ross founded Coretek Services, a photonics-based telecom device company that was later acquired by Nortel Networks for an astounding $1.43 billion.

It may sound like the opening line of a joke, but Ross Haghighat’s middle name could easily be ‘energy’. Because Ross ‘Energy’ Haghighat persisted even more in his efforts and founded Chinook Therapeutics, Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company. Ross’s latest endeavor specialized in developing and selling precision medicine for rare and severe kidney diseases.

Around 2018, Ross was still in charge of multiple corporations including the latest one, Emefcy ltd. This company was focused on manufacturing bio-energy systems that produce electric energy and extracting hydrogen from water waste.

Now, although blurry, we are starting to see Ross’s vision and what has driven him so long. A society where clean and renewable energy is stored and used efficiently is a society with a great future.

It was Ross’s goal to accumulate all this experience before taking a bigger step towards changing the way we power the world, and in 2018, Ross founded Fluence Energy.

Becoming Fluent

The mission of Fluence Energy is to support a sustainable future by changing the way we power the world. It may sound overenthusiastic, but Ross had a plan for this, too.

Enthusiastic Ross imagined Fluence Energy as a digital platform that will provide optimized and sustainable energy storage services, as well as various products or consulting services.

For Ross, it was all about fluency or how a company can transform and become more flexible and creative in the ever-changing world of technology. This would be Ross’s starting point of Fluence Energy becoming the ultimate platform for many companies.

Struggling with energy consumption inefficiency will no longer pose a problem, Ross believed.

Ross called onboard many of his previous colleagues, friends, professionals, and specialists in the field of advanced materials and energy management. Together, they developed the Fluence Energy platform which will support an energy network with a full set of services.

What we know as Fluence Energy is practically a package of decades of industry experience in one platform that provides operational and consulting services on multiple company levels.

In 2018, two of the most renowned technology companies, Siemens and AES recognized the potential and backed Fluence Energy.

The Finance Behind Fluency

The deep market insight and the long years of experience made Ross think about the most appropriate financial model for Fluence Energy.

Ross knew that the most efficient way is to get powerhouses like Siemens and AES to back the company with their resources and know-how.

In 2018, thanks to the prowess and expertise of Ross Hagighat, these two giants agreed to finance and co-create Fluence Energy. Furthermore, on December 30, 2020, the Qatar Investment Authority financed one private equity round of a mind-blowing sum of $145 million.

However, on September 28, 2021, Fluence Energy announced that it filed its registration statement for the purposed initial public offering. The application was accepted by the US Security and Exchange Commission, and on October 27, Fluence Energy announced its first initial public offering of 31 million Class A shares ($28 per share).

In the near future, Fluence Energy, guided by Ross Haghighat plans to hold initial public offerings even more frequently. The goal is to support the rapid growth of the company and the ever-expanding demand for its products and services.

Fluently Today and Into the Future

Today, Fluence Energy has between 200 and 500 employees who fluctuate according to the needs of the company. Fluence Energy’s headquarters is in Arlington, Virginia, and the company operates as a privately held corporation.

The company is present in more than 160 countries and offers energy storage products like gridstacks, sunstacks, and edgestacks, alongside the digital platform and all its features.

Ross Hagighat’s Fluence Energy is already listed among the most successful US energy companies for 2021, and intends to climb up even further up the ranking list.

Playing in the big league isn’t easy, so Fluence Energy’s had to face some serious competitors in the US, likeEversource Energy, Invenenergy LLC, and of course, Tesla and NextEra Energy.

Currently, the company provides services on four levels: guided service, shared service, complete service, or assets management.

Furthermore, Fluence Energy provides crucial consulting services to services. Cost-benefit and business case analysis, project management, industry benchmarking, system reliability analysis, or grid interconnection analysis are offered by Ross’s company.

It’s evident how Fluence Energy supports start-ups and even more established companies trying themselves and make their operations more environment-friendly.

In the following years, we’ll see even more of Fluence Energy, because the company plans to expand its activities and cater to the needs of even more companies around the world.

Is your faith in a more sustainable future restored by reading this story? Because companies like Fluence Energy may be the only hope for our planet and future.
