Cabify: Тhe Whole City at Your Fingertips

Cabify

Riding in a cab is cool; however, riding door-to-door with Cabify is even better!

Every passenger, including the self-employed driver, will get to enjoy a door-to-door adventure with Cabify. This company’s employees believe that by making clients’ transit more pleasant - they can improve the quality of life in Spanish cities! As cities continue to experience the effects of lockdowns and other restrictions, unexpected requirements arise on a daily basis, necessitating the creation of new brand standards or modification of the current ones on a constant schedule.

Why?

Because a trademark is a living entity, it needs ongoing concessions.

An interactive, live platform is essential. Especially when you have to travel to a destination you’ve never seen before. This is where Cabify cemented its mark!

This is the tale of how five Spanish visionaries, supervised by Juan de Antonio Rubio, created Cabify from the ground up to become one of the leading logistics enterprises!

It All Started With One Logo...

Let’s go down history lane when Cabify first started. This company began with only a few assets: a single logo, a single color palette, and a single typeface, and that was about it. The materials were stored in a Google Drive folder and a tiny PDF containing just the most essential information.

Cabify was founded in May 2011. The mastermind behind it was Juan de Antonio Rubio, аfter having numerous "improvable" encounters with cab drivers throughout Asia and Latin America.

Juan De Antonio was a telecommunication engineer and a Stanford University graduate. During his travels, he discovered that in certain countries he had to bargain for the cost of his trip before hopping into the car. Getting an invoice was science-fiction and making the driver lower his flag next to impossible. In certain regions, getting into a cab was even risky due to the lack of regulation.

Consequently, it dawned on him to start Cabify - a vehicle for hire company, in an effort to address these urban transportation issues. Juan shared his idea with Tuenti’s co-founder Adeyemi Ajao and Brendan Wallace. Тhe first network was launched in Madrid, attracting many Silicon Valley Investors.

Initially known as "Executive," the service was designed for a certain demographic, using high-end automobiles that were somewhat more expensive than taxis. Samuel Lown joined the company as CTO in July, followed by Michael Koper and Adrian Merino two months later.

Cabify's assets were increasing in size and growing at a rapid pace. As a result of the rapid expansion, the solution was obvious: a digital platform.

How Does This Ride-Sharing App Work?

Cabify offers everything you need - no matter your destination. It’s one of the most carefree, captivating, and modernized ride-sharing systems. The app links individuals and enterprises to the transportation options that are most appropriate for their circumstances.

Its primary goal is to improve the quality of life for city residents. To that end, it makes use of cutting-edge technology to provide a reliable, safe, and convenient mode of transportation.

With the geolocation feature, clients can share their whereabouts with their relatives and friends. Additionally, all safety and sanitary precautions against COVID-19 are constantly taken into consideration to ensure complete security and protection while traveling.

For the time being, the software allows users to order cars and track their whereabouts by mobile device. Approximately 534,116 people use Cabify each month, according to Apptopia's statistics. Cabify, Cabify Drivers - App Para Conductores, and Bive are the most downloaded applications.

And with this Cabify app, users can always see the pricing of the journey in advance and decide if the cost is acceptable for them or not. They can even set their own time restriction, pricing, and zones for all of their journeys and keep track of all expenditures from a single platform.

As a result of these trips, the company is able to support initiatives that combat climate change by protecting forests and promoting the use of renewable energy sources. Electric scooters and automobiles are among the zero-emission alternatives Cubify is constantly adding to the platform.

How Did Cabify Evolve Financially?

In September 2012, Cabify secured $4 million in Series Seed funding. A group of Latin American investors, Black Vine, AngelList angel investors, and Belgian fund Emerge contributed to these fundings.

Because of the rising demand for urban mobility and the recent adjustment in taxi pricing in Madrid, new alternative transportation options have emerged.

In June 2013, the firm debuted Cabify Lite, which included mid-range cars that were often less expensive than taxis. Car-hailing app Cabify Lite makes it possible to hire executive cars and taxis for transfers throughout the Spanish capital at rates much cheaper than the average ones.

Rakuten, the Japanese e-commerce behemoth that is also the main investor in taxi-app player Lyft, made its first investment in Cabify in October 2015, increasing its income to $40 million. Rakuten increased its investment in Cabify to $92 million in April 2016, helping the company be valued at about $320 million.

The company has received $16 million in investments from several investors and is close to breaking even; however, it intends to invest the profits in Mexico's Querétaro and Monterrey, as well as Colombia's Bogotá, where it has also just recently begun operations.

The New CFO

The Cabify startup finally has the new Chief Financial Officer, Antonio España, for the role of guiding the company toward a public offering. Antonio is a former CFO at Redexis Gas, and he will play the most significant role in the strategy and mobility innovation programs for Cabify. His previous role of successfully conducting IPOs and managing publicly traded enterprises is of great advantage for Cabify.

Cabify Today

Cabify's business model has been likened to that of the contentious ride-hailing service Uber, and it’s backed by Rakuten Capitals and Seaya Ventures, secured at approximately $470 million in funding from investors. Currently, Cabify has around 5,000 employees in Corua, Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid, Malaga, Tenerife, Vitoria, and Valencia.

Cabify also operates internationally, and the number of countries across the world that have Cabify on their platform at the moment is incredible. A few of them are Argentinian Brazil, Chile, Colombia Ecuadorean, Ecuadorian Spain, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, and the Dominican Republic.

Cabify provides self-employment possibilities to hundreds of thousands of driving partners, all while relying on the best local talent available.

However, this "start-up" claims to be the only legal alternative to Uber due to its operation with VTC permits and having more than 100,000 customers across Spain, and a monthly increase of 20%, according to the company’s statistics.

Nearly 100 cities are serviced by Cabify, which customizes its offerings to meet the needs of each one. Cabify is the first MaaS in Latin America and Europe to offset 100% of its CO2 emissions as part of its goal to be a socially responsible business and in accordance with the SDGs.

It stands out for its use of local talent and for creating employment revolutionized by technology. The experienced and knowledgeable drivers, the new cars, and the freedom to customize your trip are all advantages of using this car service.

Finally, you have the opportunity to travel as far as you want without having to burst your wallet! Moreover, by using Cabify - you’re even saving the environment from unnecessary and harmful gas emissions. That’s not something many taxi companies can brag about!
